I mentioned in my learning agreement that I plan on doing some life drawing for inspiration and the obvious honing of drawing skills. I hadn't been to a life drawing class in very long. It ended up being a great class with a awesome model and teacher leading the session. It was the kind of class where you finish it and think, "why haven't I been doing this the whole time?"
Drawing times varied from 10 mins to less than a minute. Here are some of the better sketches to come out of the session:

Learning Agreement
The day has come and this morning I submitted my final 'learning agreement'. This agreement is similar to a letter of intent. It states what and how I plan on responding to the brief (Convergence/Divergence), including an action plan of how I intend to manage my time.
I plan on looking into the writings of Carl Jung related to 'Archetypes' or 'Primordial Images', and compare them to the seven main character roles in the narrative theory of Vladimir Propp. My hope is that this will aide my understanding of how audiences relate to narratives (especially myths and folklore).
The end result will be a screen-based showreel of character designs and illustrations related to above mentioned archetypes, accompanied by an appropriate soundtrack and sound effects.
Here is a link to the full 'synopsis of study' from my Learning Agreement: [LINK]
For fun I thought I would add in an image from a narrative with some very iconic archetypes and binary opposites:

An animation is born
I am a second year BA(Hons) Illustration student at the AUCB. Over the next 15 weeks it is my aim to use this blog as a journal, compendium of inspiration and sketchbook; documenting the journey of creating an screen-based showreel as part of my final second year project.
As part of said project I am required to respond to the themes 'convergence' or 'divergence' and interpret them in my own way via some form of screen-based media (making sure to include sound). I have roughly two weeks to decide on how I plan on approaching the theme/s and then present a project proposal (Learning Agreement) to my lecturers.
